Living right on the coast has its perks—the stunning sunsets, the endless horizon, the soothing sound of the waves—but it also comes with challenges. The constant exposure to salty air had left a chalky residue, and the winter damp had encouraged patches of green algae to bloom.

Even the fascias, which should have been bright and clean, were streaked with dark lines.
